Alan K. Banks, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.C.P.
Dr. Alan Banks graduated from Colby College in Waterville, ME in 1979. He earned his medical degree at New York Medical College in 1983. Following his Internal Medicine training at Walter Reed Army Center in Washington, DC, he completed his Cardiology Fellowship there in 1988. He then became a staff cardiologist at Walter Reed, and was Director of the Cardiology Clinic, Departments of Cardiovascular Research and Interventional Cardiology, as well as Co-Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab until 1991. Since then he has been in private practice in the Tidewater area and with Cardiology Consultants, Ltd. since 1996.
He is Assistant Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He participates as a faculty member at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, LA annually for the Peripheral Vascular Course “All That Jazz”. He has been performing angiographic diagnostic and interventional peripheral procedures since 1990. He developed an outpatient noninvasive peripheral lab in his Norfolk office in 1999.
Dr. Banks is board certified in cardiovascular diseases as well as interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and has been a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology since 1991.
