Jaime E. Murillo, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.S.E.

Dr. Murillo received his undergraduate degree from the Colombian Institute of Technology in 1985, and his medical degree from the University of Antioquia, Colombia in 1991. He also attended Harvard Medical School from 1988-1989. His training in Internal Medicine was completed at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and his fellowships in Cardiology and in Nuclear/Echocardiography were completed at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Murillo was also a research cardiology fellow at Harvard Medical School, as well as Yale University School of Medicine. Since completing his training in 2001, Dr. Murillo has been practicing in the Hampton Roads area with Cardiology Consultants, Ltd.

Dr. Murillo is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also board certified in Echocardiography by the American Society of Echocardiography. He is Assistant Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and received the Golden Flea Community Faculty Teaching Award from EVMS in 2003. He was also made an Honorary Professor of Medicine at the University of Antioquia, Colombia in 2001.

Dr. Murillo has been a reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, was Co-founder of the Guillermo Velasquez Scholarship to sponsor University of Antioquia medical students for international clinical rotations, and was instrumental in the creation of the First National Meeting of Cardiovascular Epidemiology in Bucaramanga, Colombia.

Dr. Murillo’s areas of interest include nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, and heart failure management. He conducts research trials in these areas.
