John P. Parker, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. John P. Parker, MD

Dr. Parker received his undergraduate degree from Denison University in Grandville, Ohio in 1970, and his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio in 1973. His training in Internal Medicine was completed at Ohio State University Hospital, and fellowship in research and clinical Cardiology at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Parker has practiced cardiology in Hampton Roads since completing his training in 1979.

Dr. Parker is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is Associate Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and won the Golden Flea Award from EVMS in 1982. He has been very active in the education of students not only of EVMS, but with students at the Sentara Norfolk General School of Cardiovascular Technology, of which he has been the Medical Director since 1983. He has also served on many other committees, including serving as advisor for the Sentara Information Technology Systems, being instrumental in designing and implementing the electronic medical record system for Sentara Hospitals.

Dr. Parker’s areas of interest include interventional cardiology, peripheral intervention, and echocardiography.
